KhwendoKor

Khwendo Kor (KK) is a Pashto language word means “Sisters’ Home”. It is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-partisan organization registered in 1993 under the societies Act 1860 (Registration # 2614/5/2280). It was set up in response to an urgent need expressed by women for a forum to address their issues; it has developed into a sisterhood, guiding women to take practical steps for the betterment of themselves and their families. It is a participatory development initiative, focusing on the active involvement of the communities especially women and Children. KK works in villages of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and New Tribal Districts (Ex-Federally Administered Tribal Areas FATA) where Health, Education, Civil Rights and Economic Development Opportunities for the marginalized and Extremely Vulnerable Individuals (EVI) women and children of KP and New Tribal Districts (Ex-FATA), with the following vision and mission. Vision: A compassionate society where women and girls live with dignity and self-reliance. Mission: A learning and value based organization striving for resilient communities and empowered women and girls. Programmes Approach: Following are the KK Programme through its Viable Village Approach; Education Health Civil Rights Economic Empowerment Humanitarian Response Values: KK inculcates the following values into all of its work; Commitment Accountability Mutual Respect Integrity Khwendo Kor (KK) also has a registered UK based charity organization called UK Friends of Khwendo Kor (FROK) which was established in September 2002 to help Khwendo Kor (KK) in its aim to achieve a ‘compassionate society where women and girls live with dignity and self reliance’.
