Kidney Donor Athletes is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was created to be a solution to a problem. When the founder (Tracey Hulick) was going through her own process to donate her kidney to a stranger, she had a difficult time finding examples of other donors that were also athletes. She had been running since she was 12 years old and even competed in ultramarathons.
Post-donation she began sharing her journey back to running, and each week she would hear from a different donor or potential donor. Complete strangers were thanking her for sharing her story.
One year later Kidney Donor Athletes was created! This platform shares different donor athlete stories across many athletic disciplines, all to show what it truly possible as a living donor;
KDA also has a mentoring program. No one should feel alone during the process of giving a true gift of life. The mentors are available in 46 states and 6 countries outside of the US and are here to be a friend in the process.
