The Institute for IT, Media and Intellectual Property Law is an independent research institute of the Hugo Grotius gGmbH - non-profit society for the advancement of legal sciences in Germany. The legal expertise of the Institute in German, European and international IT, media and intellectual property law focuses in particular on: Intellectual Property Law (Copyright Law, Trademark Law, Design Law, Patent Law), Licensing Law, Competition Law, Data Protection Law, IT Law, Media Law and Personal Rights. With its in-depth expertise in IT, media and intellectual property law the scientific advice and research of the Institute focuses in particular on the legal requirements and legal implications of digital and emerging technologies, covering the following research areas: Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data/Data Management, Blockchain Technology, Virtual and Augmented Reality and the Metaverse, Robotics as well as Quantum Technology.
