The MOBILITIES FOR EU project aims to demonstrate that innovative mobility concepts for passenger and freight transport that follow participatory and user-centered principles are cost-effective and practicable solutions for making a significant contribution to reducing emissions in cities and accelerating the process towards climate neutrality in cities.
Transport in general is the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions and is responsible for more than 30% of total energy consumption. The Green Deal and other EU-wide decisions aim to reduce transport-related greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050, put at least 30 million zero-emission vehicles on European roads, move almost all motorized vehicles emission-free and have 100 climate-neutral cities by 2030.
MOBILITIES FOR EU is intended to have an impact at both local and EU level and make an important contribution to achieving the EU climate targets. The effectiveness of the innovative urban mobility concepts developed in MOBILITIES FOR EU can only be tested in a real environment. Therefore, seven cities from different European countries with different geographical, climatic and socio-cultural conditions represent a central component of the project.
