Moving Mountains Trust

A progressive and efficient charity working in Kenya and Nepal running long term development programmes supporting social welfare, education and community development. With its administrative costs underwritten by the travel company Adventure Alternative, this charity promotes community ownership of projects, financial sustainability and professional management in-country, leading to local MM charities becoming the architects of their own success and future. MM is a registered charity in the UK and in Ireland, with registered NGOs in both Kenya and Nepal. It has set up co-operatives and social enterprises in other places like Sarawak, and one of it's prime purposes is to allow local staff to manage and carry out the implementation of projects and programmes themselves. The UK and Irish bodies do the fundraising and provide resources and training. Moving Mountains has been working since 1995 to improve the lives of many people and it has succeeded in creating a number of truly sustainable and beneficial enterprises which have enabled communities to make great leaps in development.
