Department of Environmental Studies (DES) of the University of Delhi offers three degrees in the field of the environment- Master of Arts, Master of Science and PhD. A unique arrangement here makes both the M.A. and M.Sc. students study together for the first year which aims at bridging the arts and science divide. For the final year; curriculum, lab work, and classes are separated to make students become experts in their respective fields. The department is committed to high standards of research and training and this is the reason why DES receives the second-highest applications among all departments in the Faculty of Science. We also have more research publications in top-quality journals such as Nature, Science, and PNAS than any other Department in the Faculty. DES houses the Center for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems (CEMDE) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change that maintains seven Biodiversity Parks across the Capital City in collaboration with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
