Practitioners Nederland is DE vereniging voor Circulation Practitioners, Renal Practitioners, Ventilation Practitioners en Neural Practitioners.
Practitioners zijn ervaren Intensive Care verpleegkundigen ( IC volwassenen, PICU of NICU) met een extra aandachtsgebied (Circulation, Renal, Ventilation) waarvoor ze een vervolgopleiding hebben gevolgd.
In 2002 startte de eerste groep van negen IC-verpleegkundigen bij Care Training Group (CTG) met de eerste opleiding tot Ventilation Practitioner. Deze eerste groep Ventilation Practitioners heeft in 2003, na afronding van de opleiding, de vakgroep Ventilation Practitioners Nederland (VPNed) opgericht.
Care Training Group (CTG) ging naast Ventilation Practitioners ook Circulation- en Renal Practitioners opleiden. Circulation Practitioners, Renal Practitioners en Ventilation Practitioners werkten in die eerste jaren nauwelijks samen. In september 2017 besloten de drie vakgroepen dat samenwerken in één vereniging wenselijk is.
Vanaf september 2018 zijn Circulation Practitioners, Renal Practitioners en Ventilation Practitioners officieel verenigd in de Vereniging Practitioners Nederland.
De naam Practitioners Nederland suggereert dat er alleen Practitioners werken in Nederland. Dit is niet helemaal juist. Ook in een aantal Belgische ziekenhuizen werken Practitioners.
Practitioners hebben niet alleen een belangrijke functie op de intensive care afdelingen van Nederlandse en Belgische afdelingen Intensive Care, maar worden ook frequent gevraagd als spreker op Nederlandse en buitenlandse congressen.
