Sortbat, founded in 2010, is Europe’s leading specialist and pioneer in the secure treatment of used batteries, from 1 g to more than 1 ton. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, we sort batteries by chemical composition and prepare them for reuse or recycling. To date, Sortbat has processed over one billion batteries. We have locations in Belgium and in Norway.
Sortbat covers the entire battery management chain from the end of their first life up to the point where they enter the recycling process, through four specialized business units:
1. Sorting: sorting and sampling of portable batteries (1g–5kg).
2. Precycling: handling large batteries (LMT-HEV-EV-BESS) for diagnosing, packaging, transport, dismantling, and certification. We are the market leader in Norway in handling electric vehicles (EV) batteries. We collaborate with Høyenergi (Batteriretur) in this regard.
3. Circular: extending battery life through innovative solutions. We provide second-life certified modules and cells.
4. Consulting: supporting the battery ecosystem with on-site analysis, R&D collaboration, and training on all aspects of battery management.
