My story begins at age six.
I’m standing on a desk, being punished by Mrs. Grimm, my first-grade teacher. She's making an example of me. I’ve broken a rule. She's breaking my confidence.
That moment created a belief in me:
“𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯.”
I kept that promise for 25 years.
Then in 1994, as a Certified Financial Planner, I was forced to lead public seminars.
After one failed event, my boss doesn’t hold back:
“𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳. 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘬. 𝘍𝘪𝘹 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥.”
That humiliation triggered a transformation.
I became obsessed with why some presentations and stories fall flat while others create instant trust.
I’ve studied with world-class coaches, dissected the science, and tested presentations in the real world.
Eventually, I built the frameworks I wish I had when I was hiding behind jargon and bullet points.
