Steven E. Shepherd Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering disenfranchised boys and men in the westside of Indianapolis. Named in honor of Steven E. Shepherd Sr., the foundation’s mission is to bridge the gap for individuals facing social, economic, and personal challenges by connecting them to resources, mentorship, and support systems that enable long-term success.
At SESCF, we believe in the power of community and intentional action to create real change. We work to provide pathways to education, employment, mental health services, and leadership opportunities for men and boys of color. Our vision is to build a future where these individuals can openly seek the help they need and thrive in all aspects of their lives.
Our mission is simple yet impactful: to empower disenfranchised boys and men to overcome the challenges they face by connecting them to resources, education, employment opportunities, and building intentional networks that support their growth and success. We aim to address the core issues that often leave young men disconnected from their potential, such as economic instability, lack of mentorship, and limited access to supportive communities.
Through our work, we aim to make a direct and measurable impact on the lives of those we serve. By collaborating with local partners, including Big Homie of America (BHOA) and other grassroots organizations, we offer wraparound services tailored to the unique needs of our community. These services include peer mentoring, life skills training, job readiness, and mental health support, all designed to ensure the long-term well-being and success of each participant.
Our foundation is deeply connected to the communities we serve, and we take pride in focusing on the westside of Indianapolis. e are proud to offer hope, encouragement, and real opportunities to those who need them most.
