Our Current Projects: Algorithmic Electoral Redistricting. A fair and democratic electoral system is the bedrock of a well-functioning society. Without the guarantee of constitutionally protected representation, the modern world would not be as developed as it is today. But as we grow - our population grows and it's distribution changes, the ability of manually drawn boundaries to ensure equal representation is exponentially worsening. The question of an optimally representative electoral map is necessarily a technical one and the path to it is paved in cutting-edge computational techniques in areas such as machine learning. We are developing, from the ground up, an open-source software that will be able to generate constituencies that are provably more representative whilst allowing civil servants to spend their time in other areas. However, far too often are our students held back from reaching this level of understanding by factors such as overworked teaching staff or the inability to afford highly-priced resources. These resources are becoming a quasi-necessity for students, thus providing a fixed economic barrier for students.
