About The Problem Solving Association
Championing transparent governance and informed citizenry. By enhancing public sector decision-making and efficiency, we restore trust in public institutions and aim to shape a more just and comprehensible society. We are a team of specialists in fields ranging from Theoretical Physics and Computer Science, to Public Policy. Aiming to improve public services through innovation led by mathematical and technical development steered by a knowledge of legislation and policy. Our Current Projects: Algorithmic Electoral Redistricting. A fair and democratic electoral system is the bedrock of a well-functioning society. Without the guarantee of constitutionally protected representation, the modern world would not be as developed as it is today. But as we grow - our population grows and it's distribution changes, the ability of manually drawn boundaries to ensure equal representation is exponentially worsening. The question of an optimally representative electoral map is necessarily a technical one and the path to it is paved in cutting-edge computational techniques in areas such as machine learning. We are developing, from the ground up, an open-source software that will be able to generate constituencies that are provably more representative whilst allowing civil servants to spend their time in other areas. Freely available library of mathematics resources. A comfortability with the technical and mathematical is a necessity in the modern world. However, far too often are our students held back from reaching this level of understanding by factors such as overworked teaching staff or the inability to afford highly-priced resources. These resources are becoming a quasi-necessity for students, thus providing a fixed economic barrier for students. To combat this, we're in the midst of developing a full library of completely free Leaving Certificate Higher Level Maths resources. Including videos, worked examples, additional notes and interactive resources.
