SHE Foundation

SHE facilitates investments on exemplary models for climate-resilient development that promote education, health, food security, gender equality and sustainability in remote indigenous communities, while protecting cultural heritage, land rights and natural ecosystems in Arid and Semi Arid Lands. INVESTING IN CLIMATE-RESILIENT DEVELOPMENT A registered 501(c)3 non-profit as of 2019, SHE has facilitated the establishment of partnerships with the Sachs Foundation, the Kenya Red Cross Society, the Magadi Soda Foundation, the Tata Foundation, and local partners to support the establishment of a Climate Resilient School and a Health-Hub to serve the Maasai communities of Lenkobei and Somphole in Kenya CAPACITY BUILDING SHE collaborates with communities, international organizations, local governments and civil society across a range of sectors to integrate health, education and gender equality in community based adaptation to climate change. A key component of our global work is promoting gender equality and education of girls and women to effectively engage them in responding to and preventing climate change threats. KNOWLEDGE SHARING SHE provides leadership through solutions-oriented policy briefs, and online webinars to inform communities and stakeholders on strategies and evidence-based policies to promote climate resilient development, health, and education. SHE’s advocacy work around the UN Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC) aims that global climate policies incorporate health, nutrition and gender considerations. PARTNERSHIPS BUILDING SHE promotes partnerships with diverse groups and organizations working at the intersection of climate resilience, health, nutrition, education, gender and sustainability facilitating collaboration opportunities. This approach leverages partnerships and resources in order to sustain a stronger impact at the community and international levels.
