Transparency Lesotho Sebatalali (TLS) is a non-governmental organisation registered under no. 2020/223 in the Societies Register, Maseru under the Societies Act. As set out in its constitution, the objectives of TLS are a) To promote transparency in the public and private sectors in Lesotho; b) To study the laws of Lesotho related in comparison with laws of countries that rank high on the Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) and make recommendations for improvement to the laws of Lesotho in relation to transparency; c) To actively scan the local environment for weaknesses in transparency and make recommendations for improvement to policies, procedures, systems and processes; d) To educate Basotho from young age about the importance of transparency and the negative effects of corruption and malpractice on social and economic growth; e) To hold power to account when the country’s leadership, past or present is allegedly involved in corruption and malpractice; f) To investigate and cause prosecution of corruption and malpractice cases in the public and private sectors; g) To provide protection to transparency activists and witnesses in transparency related cases; and h) To mobilise resources to promote transparency and take action in defence of the ideals of an open and democratic society. Membership of the organisation is open to all citizens and permanent residents of Lesotho over 18 and local organisations who subscribe to the aims and objectives of TLS, are willing to abide by the rules of the organisation and are willing to pay any membership subscription fees agreed by the Executive Committee. TLS does not discriminate in membership on the basis of race, colour, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability. TLS has a subsidiary company called Eagles Intelligence Services (EIS) that specialises in investigation activities and protection of transparency activists and witnesses.
