Vanderbilt Health Purchasing Collaborative was born out of the journey of Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s need to align its supply chain practices with the ever changing needs of healthcare. Since its inception, the collaborative has invested heavily in data, technology and operational infrastructure to effectively translate the learnings from VUMC into a scalable approach that works for its members. The collaborative is comprised of 72 hospitals, 5600+ clinics, 231 ambulatory surgery centers, and 53 retirement communities from across the nation. We are now providing service to our membership in 47 states. Members benefit from the sharing of best practices and the maximization of resources and technology, resulting in an aggregate savings of 13 percent ($34 million annually). Our goal is to be the most efficient clinically integrated supply chain company resulting in reduced overall costs through use of data, technology and clinical expertise to enhance the negotiating power through aggregation of spend to impact total cost of care to member hospitals.
