Veterinary Specialty Services (VSS) provides advanced specialized care for animals, collaborating with veterinarians throughout the St. Louis area, and beyond. VSS was founded in 1994 by Dr. Gorse DVM, MS, DACVS. In 1996 Dr. Anderson DVM, MS, DACVS joined as a partner to help grow the surgical referral practice.
VSS has now grown to include multiple specialties in 7 disciplines including cardiology, critical care, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, radiology and surgery and continues to be a highly-regarded as an essential resource for pets in our community.
In 2008, VSS opened an after-hours emergency practice providing pet owners and distressed animals urgent care. The same collaborative principles apply to our emergency care: ensuring primary veterinarians and owners are involved in the choice of care for pets in an emergency situation.
In an effort to serve the St. Charles-area pets needing specialty care, VSS-West was opened in O'Fallon December 2017. In addition to 24-hour emergency care, VSS-West also offers surgery and oncology specialty services.
