VFNC is a nonprofit devoted to helping Military Veterans become farmers, expanding their operations, and finding valuable resources they need to enter new markets. Our programming is designed to take an economical approach to farming in a way that makes farms sustainable for the future.
We offer a few agricultural training programs. First is the Farm Military Agricultural Program that's specifically for transitioning military members. This is a two month training program that covers a wide variety of agricultural production topics and associated science behind them. Second is the Veterans Agricultural Training and Education Program (VATEP) for active duty, Veterans, and military spouses. This is our six month course that covers every aspect of production on the training facility plus carpentry, mechanics, electrical, and plumbing education. VATEP participants manage their own projects on the farm (cattle, beekeeping, horticulture, etc.) and develop a farm business plan upon completion. Lastly we offer internships on the farm for folks that wish to learn the basics of day to day production.
VFNC also has an inventory of equipment available for use to Veterans local to the area.
We also maintain a network of over 700 Farmer Veterans and partners within industry for mentorships and careers.
