I am very passionate about the work I do and the technologies I'm able to learn and utilize to solve interesting problems every day. Growing up I would take everything apart anything I could get my hands on, so I could understand how it worked and hopefully put it back together. After failing to reassemble the family computer for the third time, my parents embraced my curiosity and worked out a deal for me to "work" in the back of Connor Computer Consultants in Rutherfordton, NC, where I basically had an entry level internship on all things PC repair related. I don't think we could call it work because I was 12 or 13 at the time.As a kid I spent many late nights "learning how to computer". This lead me to my decision to pursue Computer Science at Appalachian State University. This is where I really flourished and learned how to learn. Things finally started making sense, from Networking to Programming, and I began feeling very confident my computing skills.I worked for a year or so at PC Medics, where I would make house calls or business calls to perform triage for any assortment of PC setups, desktops covered in a half inch of grime and cat hair, to custom gaming rigs, to point of sale terminals. It was here I received an opportunity to continue working as IT for a local accounting firm for a few hours per week rather than working for PC Medics, so I could focus more time on my final semester of college. Turned out I would be on the 4.5 year plan, and realized I needed to now pay for an additional semester of school. This is when I approached ECRS, and was hired as a Deployment Technician.I've now been at ECRS since May of 2014, and have had many opportunities presented to move up within the organization. Sometimes I had to invent the position I needed to fill, and then try and convince someone we needed that role filled, and twice I succeeded. I currently have the honor of being named an "L5 Navigator" by our CEO, which holds the responsibilities of a VP within our Research & Development teams. I take this responsibility as a personal challenge to do my best every day to help navigate the ship ECRS is driving.
