The Wilson Center is not only a Presidential Memorial, but also one of the world’s top think tanks. My responsibilities there are numerous:CONGRESSIONAL RELATIONSo Principal professional responsible for maintaining congressional relations for the Center by making extensive bipartisan contacts and connecting offices with foreign policy expertise.o Creator of the Office of Congressional Relations as a new department within the Center, building it from the ground up, including hiring and managing assistants, associates, and interns.PROGRAM DIRECTORo Director of the Center’s Foreign Policy Fellowship Program for Congressional staff, consisting of two six-week courses per year, briefings, events, and numerous congressional staff delegation trips. o Work with the Center’s Pexperts to develop each session, focusing on educating and engaging Congressional staff on the most pressing foreign policy objectives of the moment.o Oversee all logistical operations for the Program, including screening of applicants, and communication throughout.o Follow through with graduates of the Program, to establish relationships with Congressional offices, PODCASTINGo Worked with the Center’s External Relations team on quality control and production of new podcasts for a short-term position in the wake of a proliferation of podcasts being produced during the pandemic. (2020-present)o Developed the Need to Know Podcast for the Congressional Relations office, and serve as the Host, Interviewer, Editor and Producer. (2019-present)o Produced the Spotlight: Justice for Women podcast (2020)o Produce the Canusa Street podcast (2021-present)SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAMo Member of Senior Leadership Team at the Center, responsible for strategic planning, internal operations, and external relations.o Liaison with the Appropriations Committees to ensure consideration for the Center’s federal appropriationo Advisor to the Executive Team on matters regarding Congress and foreign policy.

• Held positions from intern up to Senior Legislative Assistant, covering appropriations and policy issues on a wide variety of issues including health care, agriculture, energy, transportation, education, labor, environment, homeland security, taxes, and housing.• Developed extensive knowledge of the federal budget and appropriations process. • Wrote appropriations bill and report language, determining funding priorities. • Developed policies and appropriations measures focusing on the health, transportation, education, and economic needs of one of the lowest income districts in the country, with a focus on rural development.• Worked with federal agencies to evaluate funding needs, compliance with legislation and oversight of federal spending.• Implemented $2.5 million in congressionally directed funding for flood control in eastern Kentucky, working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Kentucky office of Emergency Management, along with local and county governments to identify needs, secure approval, and finalize projects.• Conducted numerous field visits in Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland to work with stakeholder and local governments to identify funding needs and assist in meeting their goals.• Cultivated bipartisan professional and personal relationships with government and private sector professionals.
