Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery (SAMREF) is equally-owned by Saudi Aramco and Mobil Yanbu Refining Company Inc. (a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation), and is one of the world’s largest single-train crude oil refineries. The units I worked with and their responsibilities:1. Inspection and Reliability Unit: Monitoring the condition of both static and rotating equipment and implementing various programs related to their Preventive and Predictive maintenance.2. Project Planning and Control Department (PPC): Handled the planning and execution of ongoing projects in the plant. Development/study of miscellaneous contracts including job explanation meetings, bidding process, bid evaluations, award of contracts, and kick-off meeting.3. Rotating Equipment Workshop: Maintenance of all rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines etc. in the plant in consultation with the ‘Inspection and Reliability Unit’.4. Stationary Equipment and Fabrication Shop: Maintenance of all static plant equipment such as plant piping, pressure vessels, heaters, heat-exchangers, etc. Fabrication Shop was also responsible for minor piping modifications and inspection rejects (in-kind replacement). However, major piping jobs were contracted out and executed.
