So much better that I still write Ruby today!In 2016 the company I was working for had just migrated our hosting to Heroku, and we were lighting cash on fire every night and weekend when no one was using our app. We wanted to automatically scale our server resources based on usage, and nothing we tried fit the bill. I built Rails Autoscale as a tool for us to use internally, and it worked so well that I turned it into a Heroku add-on. By 2021, my SaaS dream had become a reality—I left my day job, rebranded to Judoscale (it’s no longer Rails-specific), and joined TinySeed (a startup accelerator program).Today, Judoscale is a team of three. We’ve expanded the product to several PaaS platforms—Heroku, Render, Railway, Fly.io, and Amazon ECS—and several languages—Ruby, Python, and NodeJS.
