My role within the multi-award winning Financial Mail spans the production of our Wealth, City and Personal Finance pages. On Saturdays, our press day, I work across both News, Features and Comment, applying the same forensic editing processes on deadline.

I was on the launch team of the paper's stand-alone second section, Review - and subsequently ran its production, managing its advertising flatplan and a team of sub-editors. Its Critics section was home to a raft of high profile and award-winning writers including Craig Brown. In 2013, I joined the launch team of the paper's Event magazine, which replaced.

At The Mail on Sunday, part of the blue-chip Daily Mail General Trust, I broadened my experience by producing News, Travel, Review and Lifestyle pages for an altogether different readership as well as adapting to a more corporate working environment with smaller and more tight-knit teams.

Over a 12-year period at The Sun, I gained invaluable experience as a news sub-editor, working with one of the most disciplined teams in the world, producing four editions of the paper every night. I also worked as a senior copy-taster – helping to decide which stories made the paper – attending morning conference with the paper's executive editorial team.

I gained a solid grounding in all areas of journalism from four years at the Kent Messenger Group - and a passion to work at the heart of the newspapers I trained on. During that training, I took on extra responsibilities, developed an interest in travel writing and worked on a series of special projects - including the launch of a weekly business.
