My areas of professional expertise include:Writing and Editing - I run the website Athletics Nation as its Editor in Chief. I write daily for the site, and also write for SB Nation's MLB site. I work as a copy editor for SB Nation, editing stories about all sports for spelling, grammar and accuracy of facts.Public Speaking and Broadcasting - I host weekly pub trivia nights at bars in the East Bay Area. This involves presenting the quiz program over a microphone to crowds of up to 100 people. I have a working familiarity with basic sound equipment. I also contribute a weekly segment to the Phil Naessens Show, a sports podcast which is available on Zunes, Stitcher, and Armed Forces Radio.Event Staffing - I have a wealth of experience staffing live events, from small affairs at bars to large-scale events at venues such as the Oakland Coliseum, Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord, and the UC Davis Activities & Recreation Center.Event Planning - Prior to hosting pub trivia events for Brainstormer Pub Quiz, I produced my own trivia events under the name Smart Alex Trivia. I was responsible for creating the program, writing the questions, and promoting the event, in addition to hosting the quiz each week. In 2012 and 2013, I served as the Program Director for the Meridian District Camporee for the Boy Scouts of America, which involved recruiting and training a staff of around 40 youths, planning the program alongside that staff, and managing the weekend event for over 600 campers.
