I managed a dynamic number of testers within AT&T Mobility group depending on project size and budget. Throughout my various projects, I always managed to come in under budget. My project list included consumer facing products including iPhone firmware upgrades, iOS applications, and FemtoCell. However, my primary focus within the QE group were the backend systems. Within the large scope projects of the mobile gateway upgrades, my team worked on verify existing consumer products were as well or better.Gateway products included Openwave Systems’ Mobile Access Gateway, MAG, and Ericsson’s Next Generation Gateway, NGG. Other projects included the ruleset upgrade to AT&T’s Common Services Gateway, CSG, and the CSG 2.0 upgrade project.

I took a one month contract for AT&T. I was among 14 other testers with experience ranging from equal to mine to 10+ years in the field of testing. We were told that the one person who stood out would go on to an 18 month contract. I quickly established myself as a teacher, proficient tester, leader, and SME on our project. The project was extended by one month and at the end I was chosen as the tester to move onto a long-term contract. I soon found myself new projects where I showed a willingness to learn and manage both projects and testers. I earned projects that required more independent work, where I could show off my abilities to exercise lead responsibilities. Towards the end of my first year at AT&T I was given my own project to manage. This allowed me to learn more of the process and paperwork that goes into managing projects; this then lead to me being promoted to Test Lead.
