Hi! 👋 I'm a data scientist who is passionate about building robust & ethical ML/AI systems for social good. I have broad research interests in transparent and explainable AI, healthcare, graph learning, signal processing, and more.I have former industry and research experience in biomedical machine learning, NLP, computer vision, time series analysis, and signal processing techniques such as noise cancellation and filtering.After graduating with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Western Michigan University, I started my career in industrial automation: controls engineering, robotics, and logic programming. In my first engineering job out of college at Georgia Pacific, I received a manufacturing excellence award for successful planning and execution of a large-scale machine safety improvement project. I quickly became passionate about data analysis to reduce machine failures and sought to leverage ML for automatic diagnosis and save hours of troubleshooting. During this time, I taught myself to code in python. Later on, I earned a MS in Electrical Engineering from Portland State University, with a formal focus on signal processing and statistical/machine learning. I have also earned a MS in Biomedical Engineering from OHSU, where I carried out research in the Artificial Intelligence for Medical Systems (AIMS) lab with the aim of improving the lives of those living with type 1 diabetes using ML & AI.
