In Service Operations we create new business policy and certificate insurance documents (contracts) for Group Specialty Markets – Association, Group Retiree Health and Business Travel Accident. Association products include but are not limited to Hospital Income, Disability, Life, Critical Illness, Tricare Supplement. Employee Travel aka Business Travel Accident is a standalone product. Group Retiree Health includes Medicare Supplement, Group Retiree Insurance, Senior Medical Insurance and Prescription Drug. Any non-core product is issued through this team. The policy goes to the policyholder, the group purchasing the insurance coverage for their members. The actual certificate is what the individual insured person is given to inform them of their insurance coverages. Additionally, the Issuance Team also processes request for changes (RFC’s) for the products under Group Specialty Markets. The Issuance Team serves as a point of contact for all specialty policy materials developed while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. We partner with the other Product Compliance and Regulatory Compliance Teams, as well as other areas within Group Benefits including but not limited to Actuarial, Claims, Account Management and Underwriting.Issuance includes developing the actual policy materials that a policyholder and insured will receive. For Group Retiree Health (which sells employer group plans that coordinates with Medicare) and Association Markets (this sells insurance to associations and their members) this includes the policy (or policy of incorporation), the certificate (booklet), schedules, any riders, and necessary notices, and issue instructions. For Group Retiree Health this also includes the marketing materials, enrollment forms and summary of benefits. All these documents are referred to as policy materials or policy equipment.
