Worked to produce two Malaria Cysteine Proteases in native form. Falcipain-1 and 2 are two major malarial proteases required for parasites nutrition. Blocking them has been effectively used as a strategy to develop antimalarials. In order to design structure based drugs against these proteases, i developed methods to prepare these proteins in native form successfully. Expression systems tested were bacterial, yeast and insect cells(baculovirus). Protein purification methods used includes IMAC, GPC, IEX and HPLC methods on an AKTA system.
