I focus on embedding equitable and inclusive strategy, monitoring, evaluation and learning (S-M-E-L) practices in our programmes that support grantee-partners to address different social challenges, including criminal justice, migration, gender-based violence, democracy, education and child protection. I coach colleagues on appropriate S-M-E-L approaches and commission and collaborate with external learning and evaluation partners to ensure rigorous, inclusive learning and evaluation underpins our work. I advocate for co-creation of programmes with partners and people with lived experience of issues we're addressing, including through participatory approaches to theories of change, learning and evaluation frameworks and tools. I also lead workshops and training on S-M-E-L for effective philanthropy and systems change. I'm proud to have led the organisation's shift away from burdensome written reporting requirements of grantee partners to a practice of learning. This shift enhances understanding of our partners' social impact, contributes real-time learning for adaptation, and rebalances the power imbalance of the traditional funder-grantee relationship.
