Geospatial Information Officer (Gio) And Branch ChiefUs Environmental Protection Agency (Epa) Oct 2023 - PresentThe Geospatial Information Officer (GIO) position became a combination senior advisor and supervisory branch chief position as part of the Office of Mission Support (OMS) reorganization in 2023. The duties of this position include senior leadership responsibilities such as collaborating with OMS senior leadership, EPA programmatic leadership and EPA geospatial leaders across EPA on the strategic direction of the Office as well as and future architecture of geospatial programs and services across EPA. The GIO also coordinates closely with EPA’s Chief Data Officer (CDO) and Chief Technical Architect to plan and implement high priority initiatives. The GIO represents EPA on the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and coordinates closely with other GIOs and geospatial leaders across the Federal government as well as with States and Tribes. In addition, this position manages a branch of 8 staff members including a Deputy GIO. The branch is responsible for leading EPA’s National Geospatial Program. This incudes managing a number of complex, enterprise-wide geospatial data management programs and systems such as EPA’s GeoPlatform, Shared Enterprise Geospatial Services (SEGS), EPA’s Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Program and GeoSecure among others. In addition, the branch plays a leadership role in geospatial training, developing policies and standards, supporting governance of EPA’s geospatial community and leadership and making geospatial, tools, services and licenses available across the Agency. -
