Content specialist at one of the country's best policy-oriented local news sites.Half-time editorial staffer for a two-person team that managed a bicycling news site with 5,000 to 8,000 unique daily readers in the country's bike-transportation capital. Managed and edited volunteer writers. Co-produced several live events. Co-created and launched a membership program that drew 350 subscribers at $10/month or more; created and wrote the email newsletter that was the program's main perk. Created a regular column on land-use issues that made them a central part of Portland bicycling advocacy. Wrote 1,400 posts, many of them heavily reported, in three years. Willamette Week's readers named us the city's best blog after the second and third of these three years.

Had 2,100 monthly subscribers when we joined forces with BikePortland in June 2013 and continued some elements as a BikePortland production (under the new brand name).Reported the stories. Reported on local-news startups around the country for the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University at www.niemanlab.org. Hired as part-time intern, then asked to remain as a freelance correspondent.

Covered countywide trends and county government for paper named the best mid-size daily in the Pacific Northwest, 2007. Launched the metro team's first blog and the paper's first Web database. First place in environmental reporting from the Washington News Association, 2010.

As one of 10 nationally-selected fellows, researched, shot and reported for Brian Ross investigative unit, exposing insecurity at university nuclear research reactors and prompting a Congressional hearing. Broadcast on Primetime, October 2005.
