Third Sector Manager, Kirklees Council(Sept 2017 – Present)I work across council services to ensure better support for Third Sector Organisations. I work with partners across all sectors to identify need and gaps in provision and to create sustainable growth in the Third Sector.Operation and Development Manager, Kirklees Council(November 2007 to September 2017)As Operations and Development Manager I was responsible, across Kirklees, for the management of Area Team Leaders, setting priorities, planning area programme, deployment of resources, setting and controlling budgets and identifying new funding opportunities. I manage the development and co-ordination of Service Curriculum, Accreditation and Quality Assurance. I have a lead on several areas of work for Kirklees including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Youth Provision, Mobile Youth Provision, Young People’s Health, Gangs and Anti-Social Behaviour. I have been responsible for the development and design of these programmes. I am responsible for Staff Training and Development. I have a Safeguarding lead and I am Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the Service Preventative teams. I manage six Service Level Agreements with major Voluntary and Community Sector organisations and lead on Small Grants commissioned across South Kirklees. I am responsible for Human Resource matters in South Kirklees including recruitment and selection, terms and conditions and performance management.Area Team Leader, Kirklees Council(October 2005 to November 2007)My initial role in Kirklees, with Young People's Service (now Integrated Youth Support Service), involved leading an area team of 4 youth workers, up to 12 Assistant Youth Workers and various volunteers. During the two years, I effectively developed new partnerships and increased work across other service teams, such as sports, play and keyworkers. I created new projects including Detached provision in new areas and work with young men who are fathers

I currently manage the Kirklees Third Sector Team. I am responsible for working across partner organisations and Council departments to develop a good relationship between the Third Sector and Kirklees Council, to create opportunities for Sector growth and development.

I managed youth workers and volunteers to deliver junior, senior and sports clubs. I worked with the Centre Development team to work towards the development of a new centre which later became the flagship for the Government myplace initiative.I started new projects: Arts and Sports provision; Detached Youth Work; and Young Parents provision

After two years in the role of Supporting Unemployed Young Men I developed and found the Social Inclusion Programme (still running today) delivering targeted provision for both young men and young women, work with young offenders (involved regular court and YOI visits) and the unemployed, teenage parents provision, alternative curriculum with schools and detached programmes across Cambridge, as well as a varied evening and weekend programme for all young people offering DJ/music sessions and sports activities. It was here I developed young father provision which was the basis of my M.A. dissertation research: ‘Informal education: Young Men, Identity and Fatherhood’.
