Intellisystems was acquired by Teletech in 1998.Re-architected Intellisystem's rule-based expert system software to base it on an OO, n-tiered design and to utilize a common data access layer. Lead the subsequent development of a COM driven ASP application to enable deployment of the technology over the internet. Created a core set of COM objects for execution in IIS on NT servers and employed XML and HTML for web presentation. Developed an integrated toolset for the creation, maintenance and deployment of rule-based expert systems. The toolset was developed using MFC and C++ for Windows 95/98/NT platforms.

Designed and developed programmable control software for Hamilton Co’s liquid handling robots. The robots were employed in a wide variety of analytical and clinical applications. The programmable control software enabled a diverse user base to rapidly adapt the robots to perform liquid assays. Created a multi-threaded execution engine that provided concurrent, synchronized control for the individual components of each robot as well as orchestrating the actions of multiple robots. Implementation was in C++ for an OS/2 platform. Based my Master's thesis on the design of the execution engine.Conceptualized an innovative approach for developing programmable control software that combined ease of programming with an ability to develop complex custom solutions for specific applications such as solid phase extraction. Partnered with product management and applications engineering to define requirements. Engaged at all levels of the development life cycle from product inception through application deployment.Participated in ISO9001 certification process. Developed an approach for performing Risk Analysis that was incorporated into the overall certification and which satisfied the relevant FDA regulations.

Software Engineer

Member of the development team that ported several versions of AT&T’s UNIX (SVR2 and SVR3) to Cubix Corp’s Intel- based (80x86) microcomputers, aka cubes. Developed bootstrap and startup code and wrote several device drivers for serial, SCSI and network devices.Co-developed a network stack based on RFS that enabled the cubes to be used as file-servers for PC’s running DOS and NETBIOS.Originated, maintained and enhanced a test suite that was used to smoke test newly built kernels during the porting process. Debugged complex software and hardware related issues that were identified using the test suite. Software issues included the identification of a kernel component (the numeric coprocessor emulation component) that was not being correctly initialized during system boot. Hardware issues included the identification of a timing signal that was prematurely latching data on the SCSI bus and resulted in intermittent data corruption.Utilized C, UNIX shell script (Korn and Borne) and assembler for development. Utilized a logic analyzer for debugging hardware.
