Key-Log Economics is an ecological economics research and consulting firm that works with organizations and communities to develop models, reports, and communication pieces conveying the critical relationship between people and nature. My work has focused on economic analysis of energy policy and resource development, including a report on the controversial and decades-old push on Capitol Hill to open Alaska's Arctic Refuge to oil drilling and several ecosystem service assessments in the Laurel Highlands, Lake Erie region, and Roanoke River Basin.

As a member of the Nitrogen Working Group, I wrote several reports assessing UVA's progress toward reaching its nitrogen emissions reductions goal of 25% by 2025, focusing on both energy policy and food procurement. These reports included analysis on historical emissions from UVA's Main Heating Plant, purchased electricity, and purchased food, as well as the annual social costs associated with these emissions. I provided policy recommendations for the University to reach its nitrogen reduction goal by 2025 through several potential scenarios, including business-as-usual, and calculated the projected social cost savings and emissions reductions associated with each option.

Under the direction of Dr. Bill Shobe in the Batten School, my work primarily focused on independently assessing Dominion Power's Integrated Resource Plans- specifically their projected energy demand for the state of Virginia, their potential compliance scenarios for the Obama Administration's Clean Power Plan, and later their projected rate of solar power growth in Virginia. Specifically, this involved reviewing solar projects in the PJM market queue to compare the rate of solar energy growth in Virginia with Dominion's solar forecast and compiling data on natural gas and solar capacity in Virginia to help determine public need for additional natural gas pipelines.

I assisted the Office for Sustainability in maintaining a variety of programs, including UVA Saves Hour and UVA Recycling, along with participating in outreach events for incoming students and parents, and the UVA community at large. Specific assignments included calculating the annual impact on the University's waste bill from a rate change under a contract with our waste vendor, and writing a proposal for revamping the reused supplies program through the UVA recycling center.
