Managed PSHi portfolio and team of Analysts, represented PSHi in meetings with partners and funding agencies, and led research and publications on healthcare delivery through the private sector.

The Global Health Group bridges the gap between evidence, policy and implementation to stimulate practical international and local action to solve critical health challenges. The Private Sector Healthcare Initiative (PSHi) team conducts operational research and supports private sector health systems strengthening in developing countries. Mixed-methods research and writing has included: a business/teaching case study on a social franchise program in Myanmar, and research on strategies to improve malaria diagnosis and treatment by private health providers in Nigeria. Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) applies rigorous techniques to develop, test and scale up proven solutions to real-world problems faced by the poor in developing countries. In this role, I contributed to development and policy aims through promotion of tested and proven development interventions (the Proven Impact Initiative) to potential donors and policy outlets. Assisted in recruitment of global Director and Associate level positions, and did backstopping for the scale-up initiative Deworm the World.

As Country Director, managed all IPA-Mexico projects and staff, and developed and grew operations in the country. Projects managed included: measuring the impact of microfinance products, measuring client sensitivity to microcredit interest rates, developing and testing information campaigns to reduce plastic bag consumption in supermarkets, and developing and testing information campaigns to influence voter behavior.

Examined strategies for local economic development through the municipal planning system in Nicaragua on a 6-person team of NYU Wagner MPA candidates. Evaluated EU-funded program PRODELSA, to strengthen municipal governments and fund local economic development projects focused on food security, through fieldwork and analysis. Advised the formation of a similar local economic development project implemented by the UNCDF.

The Marc Lindenberg Center for Humanitarian Action, International Development and Global Citizenship is located in the Evans School of Public Affairs at UW. Managed a Gates Foundation grant to map transnational health networks in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Planned and facilitated a conference on microfinance and disaster preparedness and response in Managua, Nicaragua.
