Now retired, and renovating a new home in France. Spending more time on my photography and sailing events.Formerly a technical communicator, with a writer's heart and the head of an engineer. Able to understand technical detail quite easily and translate it into plain, comprehensible English. It is important to get non-writers to understand the information needs of their audiences, and that the language subject matter experts use may not be familiar to their audience. My background was in writing for marketing and PR, but what I enjoyed most (and therefore did best) was writing about complex and technical concepts in ways that an audience can understand. During my last years at work I spent most of my time editing SME speak into plain language, creating podcasts too.Now living in France and improving my language skills. I am an experienced offshore yachtsman (completed two Fastnet Races), and appointed International Judge at World Sailing. Aspiring to National Umpire status as well. Both of which take so much time that I now sail International One Metre and DragonFlite 95 yachts (radio controlled).
Listed skills include Technical Writing, Content Management, Technical Communication, Content Development, and 25 others.
