SEN had a strategic OEM relationship at that time with Extreme Networks. I was asked to manage the overall business relationship, based on my WLAN and partner experience. This was a great role since it blended both sales and management skills. I touched sales, marketing, engineering, and helped facilitate the adoption of several new products. I found the project management aspects of this role to be very interesting, and gave me a deeper understanding of the challenges associated with new product development and launch.

Responsible for WLAN sales and channel development. During my tenure, I lead the country in new account and channel sales. Closed the largest WLAN opportunity in the US. Promoted to OEM Director.
Director Western Region
Inkra built a Virtualized Services System that was targeted to the Service Provider Marketplace. Services included Firewall, IDP, Server Load Balancing, SSL Acceleration and VPN. I was responsible for positioning this technology into the Service Provider Market. My key account was NTT/Verio, which gave me the opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture and business practices. I found this aspect of the role very interesting. Inkra, was not able to expand their technology into areas outside of the Service Provider market, and hence was not able to sustain operations. I learned there are many variables that contribute to the success of a startup, and great technology while critical is only one piece of the puzzle. Key is being able to sell horizontally across markets since it is very easy to saturate your primary customer base.
