Hello, I'm April McGee. I'm an African American woman attending Bowie State getting my degree in Elementary Education. My Philosophy:Education is a very rewarding career to be in.You learn a lot about yourself and what you are able to deal with.The fact that I love children and what they are to our future is the reason why I enjoy my studies.I believe the best way to help someone along their path is to give them guidance and encouragement; teaching does those things.Children are free spirited, energetic, and inexperienced and to give someone direction on a positive path is life changing.I give my students, reassurance, guidance, discipline, love, patience and a challenge at my current employer.Having the opportunity to work in the environment where my career will be station is such a honor; it is preparing me for the classroom and I enjoy the insight.Once I reach my goal as an educator, I will instill in my students a desire to strive for excellence.I want my colleagues and community to understand the sacrifices and challenges that are required in this career.Leaving a child behind is something that I will not do because I have respect for the child and myself.Everyone should have the opportunity to establish and achieve their goals.Teachers are capable of alot and in fact, they are mothers, role models, friends, and caregivers.I want to take on these roles and become an effective teacher to my students.My overall goal is to transform the lives of students by giving them the knowledge, skills, and values that they will need in order to be successful in the new global century.I want my students to understand that the decisions they make today will impact their lives in the future and may impact the lives of future generations of their family members.I believe that every student has a dream and a desire to succeed in life and that my role as a teacher is to help them to realize their dream by helping them to unlock their many gifts and talents.
