Systems Engineer (Metrolink Positive Train Control Project)

Reporting to the Chief Engineer assigned to the Metrolink Positive Train Control Project. Lead Engineer responsible for Back Office Messaging System implementation, Network Administration tasks, and various Systems Integration Engineering tasks. Managing the implementation of the Interoperable Train Control Messaging System (ITCM) for the Project, including testing, documentation, configuration, and troubleshooting.Conducting laboratory setup, test procedure development, and test execution tasks under the direction of the Senior Network Engineer, Chief Engineer, and the Systems Integration Manager. Responsible for developing systems integration solutions, and leading their testing and implementation. Configuring and installing radio and data communications in the laboratory and in the field/waysides.Documenting system infrastructure, network diagrams, and rack elevations using Microsoft Visio.Supporting Senior Network Engineer in tasks related to configuration of the project’s production network.Interfacing with vendors, contractors, and clients to support the completion of the project.Supported the installation of the Metrolink Dispatch Operation Center’s Datacenter.Administering and supporting systems to include Microsoft Hyper-V infrastructure, Windows Servers, VMware, Red Hat Linux, and Cisco devices.Administering PTC specific equipment: Wabtec Train Management Computer and Slot 10, GE Wayside Interface Unit, Lilee Wayside Messaging Server & Meteorcomm locomotive and wayside 220Mhz Radios.Responsible for writing workplans, value-add engineering, configuration management, quality, and safety requirements.
