I served in the Australian Army for 11 years, both as an Infantry and Military Police specialist. I was deployed to East Timor under INTERFET in 1999 and later medically discharged in 2006.I have a Service Dog called Leroy who has saved my life. I always believe in "paying things forward", and sharing the experience and knowledge that I myself have been so lucky to be given with my Service Dog training journey. So in return I voluntarily help mentor and improve other trainee handlers with their Service Dogs. Whether its in person, email or via social media I am always willing to put out my helping hand."Since being matched in June 2017 with my Service Dog Leroy, together we commenced and completed training in November 2017 by Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs (GHAD) for the Public Access Test (PAT) Certification. I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey. This experience has given me my life back. It has helped me to stop living a reclusive lifestyle. I am now able to continue with regular graded exposure treatment for my chronic PTSD and anxiety which includes leaving the house and interacting with the community.
