I have 34 years of experience working for public sector departments within the United Kingdom government. I spent fourteen years at the Department of Works and Pensions, primarily engaged in social welfare practice and a further twenty years at Her Majesty’s Land Registry as an experienced land registration and administration executive dealing with a wide range of land administration matters including legal analysis, systematic titling and complex digital mapping.I was an active member of the strategic departmental working party that developed and pioneered the concept of “small team working”. This innovative approach revolutionised productivity and working methods within Her Majesty’s Land Registry and created a working model that still forms the benchmark operational production unit within the Agency today. During my twenty year career with Her Majesty’s Land Registry, I gained valuable knowledge and expertise across the full range of land registration matters and as such, offered technical and procedural advice to both legal practitioners and lay people on a daily basis. I have significant experience working in multiple diverse project teams and a thorough knowledge and understanding of project and programme management principles and processes and how those are applied at a national, governmental level.I have undertaken a critical review of computerised land registration systems in the Turks and Caicos Islands under a programme funded by the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office and also directly contributed to the development of a comprehensive land ownership and electronic title registration system in the islands. I also undertook two successful tours as the Chief Land Registrar in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Since then I have co-authored a foundation level course in land registration and Crown land administration and an advanced land registration course to further develop the training capacity of the company.
