Current Responsibilities:I am a Functional manager for New Product Development within Medtronic Cardiac Surgery R&D with focus on capital equipment projects. Within my team I have functional leadership over EEs, electronics technicians, mechanical technicians, 3D CAD designers and additionally manage six electrical-mechanical R&D labs. I have previously provided functional leadership of Mechanical engineers as well. Prior to shifting my focus back to R&D, my medical experience centered on sustaining engineering with functional and program management. I have had technical leadership for field/customer, factory and future impact within Medtronic Cardiac Surgery. In leading sustaining, I maintained comprehensive, prioritized Sustaining Engineering project lists and was responsible for reporting program status, budget and results to cross functional management and leadership. I have facilitated cross functional management prioritization meetings to ensure Sustained engineering projects are properly prioritized, budgeted, scoped and resourced. In both a R&D and R&D Sustaining role I have had responsibilities that include: cost analyze, scope, plan, and deliver project results per committed schedule and targets. Annually plan and maintain $3M+ budget for Sustaining Engineering as well as $1M+ budget for R&D Model Shop and labs. Multiple years of experience in people management responsibility for up to 14 R&D direct reports and contingents.Relevant Prior Experience:I had PNL and inventory responsibility for products totaling $15 million in annual revenue. Strategic planning and life cycle management of four product lines. New product development and realization resulting in over $500k in new revenue in 2008. Inventory management resulting in over 30% decrease in 2008. New idea generation resulting in 15 US patents. Led diverse project teams with team members from Germany, Amsterdam, Mexico, China, Asia and Australia.
