Currently, I am the course manager and primary instructor for all Electrical and Electronics classes for the Skilled Team Members and other TM’s at Chattanooga State's VW Academy. My duties include course curriculum, content, and instruction in required electrical and safety training for all Skilled Maintenance Team Members, contractor safety orientation, and New Hire Orientation. These classes include the continued updating of core curriculum as technology changes along with governmental regulations. Classes taught now include AC & DC Theory, Electronics, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Confined Spaces, Tugger Safety, Forklift Safety, Aerial Lifts and Scissor Lifts, Lockout/Tag Out, Hazardous Materials, Industrial Hygiene, NFPA 70E, and Ladder Safety in addition to all other safety classes. My duties include recording grades of the students into the LMS system, tracking required update training and coordination with VW Safety on current and new courses to insure compliance with both VW requirements and Federal and State Laws. I also teach the second year apprentices at the Chattanooga Electrical JATC in AC Theory. Previous to this year, since 2008, I taught fourth year Motor Controls. Including Motor operation, three phase systems, Digital Electronics, and PLC’s. Responsible for insuring Apprentice and Journeyman compliance with OSHA safety training requirements. I have completed the NJATC's four years NTI program at the University of Tennessee. I am also an OSHA 10/30 authorized safety trainer for both the 1926 Construction Standard and the 1910 General Industry Standard..
