I am a recent graduate from the University of Delaware with a passion for helping people and the environment. As an Eagle Scout, I spent many weekend camping and learning outdoor skills such as wilderness survival, first aid, and animal/plant identification. My strong leadership skills blossomed as assistant senior patrol leader where I communicated ideas between adult leaders and fellow scouts and organized weekly meetings, camping weekends and community service projects. Ultimately, I became an Eagle Scout when I completed my three month project which involved fundraising, organizing supplies and 20+ volunteers, and building portable flower beds for the E.J. Autism Foundation. I consider Boy Scouts the beginning of my love for the environment and helping others. Beginning college, I was interested joining the medical field, leading me to become an EMT at UD. My early coursework lead me through multiple environmental, biology and chemistry labs where I became proficient in both written and verbal lab reports and presentations. Despite my love for riding an ambulance, I regained my passion for the environment when I added a minor in Environmental Humanities. This minor enlightened me on how I can increase community involvement and health through environmental projects. I've helped clear garbage and invasive Ailanthus trees from the small area of land the Lenni Lenape still maintain in Dover, Delaware where I also learned about traditional Native American medicine. I have also worked on a 10 acre reforestation project in an underprivileged neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland. This piece of land has riddled invasive English Ivy and trees killed by the Asian Emerald Ash Borer. Working with members of the U.S. Forest Service for a little over one year, I lead teams in removing dead trees, creating trails, and planting more than 500 native trees to create a new foundation for rebuilding the ecosystem.
