Beth has been a registered nurse since 1994, and nurse practitioner since 2000, starting her career working in school health in Cincinnati before relocating to Dallas in 2002 where she worked at Children’s Medical Center Dallas in pre-surgical, and pulmonary medicine. Beth worked with children with the rare, incurable disease of pulmonary hypertension (PH) for 15 years, initially within the Pulmonary Division at Children's Dallas and later within the Division of Cardiology at Children's Hospital Colorado with Dr. Dunbar Ivy's team.In working within the PH community for well over a decade Beth's compassion, patient-focused care, and dedication were strengthened. Her attention to detail provided comprehensive and consistent care to patients over long periods of care management. The academic and research-oriented focus of the Colorado program allowed for growth and learning leading to a focus on evidence-based care. The rarity of the disease provided opportunities for collaboration and growth in mentoring and teaching experiences. Beth's persistence and commitment to PH care resulted in a rewarding career but was also a high emotional investment. In 2021 Beth made the decision to take a career break to focus on her personal health and well-being.During her career break Beth shifted her focus to work that allowed for needed regeneration: gardening, dog boarding, and some continued care of children. Child care included therapy with a young boy with autism and ADHD, in addition to children with prematurity, developmental delays, and Down Syndrome.I returned to clincial work as a pediatric nurse practitioner in September 2024 in Perioperative Services at Children’s Hospital Colorado. I have lived in Colorado for the past 16 years and greatly enjoy the lifestyle it affords me with outdoor adventures, hiking, biking, and exploring. I have a four-year old English cream golden retriever, Finley, who accompanies me on most adventures.
