I was responsible for the delivery of a network platform which provides an in-house software testing and development environment.I provisioned, secured and monitored all hardware and software systems. The role is heavily focused on the optimization of the platform which is used to provide stable and secure Managed Service systems consisting of multiple .net websites.I also managed two Data Center footprints which act as “Managed Service Portals” and “Disaster Recovery” sites. One of the core tasks was to provision, deploy and monitor a "Managed service platform" built on a VMware ESXi5 and Microsoft SQL platform. Once of my key achievements was to successfully migrated direct attached servers onto a new EMC SAN environment – thus increasing the stability and performance of the platform.

Kildare County Council

I was responsible for the administration of a network that has over 800 users and 40 external sites. My role focused on hardware and software Infrastructure management.

As a member of the Network Services team it is my responsibility to, maintain the Data Backup of the Elan network. I was tasked with the Upgrade and maintenance of the server environment - Key amounts those duties was to build and backup servers in line with security guidelines.

As a member of the Applications team it was my responsibility to,provide technical support for manufacturing,finance and document control applications running on SQL/Oracle databases.It was also part of me duties to upgrade applications and develop subsequent procedures for systems support, whilst ensuring systems security.

My first role in ISGN was active directory management for GMACCM. This job entailed administrating the security requirements for GMACCM file servers & user accounts, following GMACCM’s security policy and procedures. This was instrumental in them achieving grade 1 SOX compliance.I was also responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining the desktop and server environment for ISGN, which involved: OS installations / Antivirus updates / patch management / software installations / Active Directory configuration / printer administration, Website deployment and maintenance.In ISGN I was part of a team who were responsible for the building & maintaining of software development environments, using both physical and virtual servers (VMware). I was responsible for the maintenance of QA / Development and production server environments. It was also my role to create and implement a backup procedure & policy using Veritas Backup Exec Ver 9.1. I was also involved in creating a new network for ISGN, which exposed me to firewall, router, switch, DHCP, DNS, ISA, configuration plus DMZ / LAN / WAN & remote user connectivity. I installed and managed “MOM” Microsoft Operations Manager for ISGN-IRELAND. Finally, I developed polices and procedures for the IT Helpdesk in accordance with best practice guidelines.

My job was to analyze the performance of the Esat Business network. This involved working with the entire NMC i.e. Switching, Transmission Data & IP sections. I had to set up procedures for report handling and then analyze the subsequent reports in order to gain the networks performance. It was my job to put together a weekly Network Performance report, which was presented to the company’s directors. I was also the Team Leader over three others for a project to do an entire audit of the Esat Network. This audit was a success resulting in a large sum being recouped by the company.
