I worked at AT&T. I worked in the Construction and Engineering Department in San Diego and Springfield, MO. My positions included Design Engineering, Construction Supervisor, Long Range Planner, Engineering and Equipment Area Manager. In these positions I learned to read and draw schematics for the placement and turn-up of outside telephone equipment. I lead groups of tradesmen, engineers, and equipment managers. I provide long range plans for southwest Missouri’s fiber network using budgeting, sizing, and comparison tools.I honed my leadership, project management, and problem analysis skills in my positions with AT&T. I successfully led teams of seasoned and skill workers, new college graduates, and managers of varying abilities. I was always able to get the most productivity and have best workplace environment with these teams. Our safety records were impeccable. Beginning in 1997 as a design engineer, I had to learn and become proficient at managing projects. This included designing the projects. I had to work with various groups to locate and resolve issues. Later as a leader, I had to focus on removing roadblocks to assist subordinates in their successful work. I worked with even more varied groups to provide our customers with consistently good service. I worked with other utilities, private businesses, and governmental agencies to get our projects completed. In various new endeavors for AT&T, I had to analyze, select, and solve the key components of these initiatives. I learned how to not get side tracked by the myriad side issues and to pinpoint the lynchpin for the initiatives success and focus either my talents or my teams’ talents on that objective. During this time with AT&T I also learned budgeting, manpower requirements, union relations, workplace safety, civic relations, and contracting.

I worked for the U.S. Army. My first ten years were on active duty as an Infantryman. In my last 16 years I was a Reservist as a Transportation and Logistics Specialist/Generalist. Most of my career, I led groups of soldiers from 9 – 500 men and women. I became experienced in motivating people, getting the right person into the job where they could help our team the most, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and teamwork, and mentoring subordinates both personally and professionally. I gained experience in maintenance, supply, training, retention, planning, and interpersonal skills. I learned and exercised staff duties and staff coordination duties. I ran a motor pool responsible for the maintenance of over 400 vehicles and their ancillary equipment. I am skilled at Intermodal Transportation. I’ve worked with rail, ship, truck, and air transportation. For 7 months I was responsible for moving all US Army equipment to Afghanistan via Qatar. I planned and executed training for security operations, safety, and logistical planning.I am skilled at leading a diverse group of people to achieve their personal and professional goals and our company’s goals. I retired from the US Army as a Lieutenant Colonel.
