  My main job descriptions were to educate, role-model, and counsel students who were attending our program. Students were placed in our program from up to 10 different school districts for either disciplinary or social problems. Often these were also compounded with learning problems. Sometimes students were short term, 9 weeks or semester. Others would stay with us until completion of school career.The other part of my job description was to supervise AmeriCorps Members who would serve in our programs to help supervise, tutor, and model for the students. In the summer we would run an Environmental/Service program where we focused on teaching youth how to explore, and to play and work together.Presently we are changing the focus of our Alternative Ed. Program to follow the Youth Build Model and to teach our youth construction skills while rebuilding houses for the underprivileged.
