The Virginia High School Jazz Band Invitational was created specifically to provide an opportunity for high school programs to highlight their jazz ensembles and bands at a popular public venue at little to no cost each year. We are organized through a Board of Directors that is directly responsible for the operation of the organization and especially the showcase event. Associated directly as an activity for a non-profit secondary school booster program, the organization works to actively promote the jazz curriculums and programs of its participants. All event proceeds benefit the Invitational in its overall mission to support high school music programs across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

With more than a quarter century of law enforcement, investigative, and supervisory experience, I’ve had the honor of leading the District’s new office of Consumer Protection from legislative conception through national recognition for exceptional public service. The office has been nominated as an example of innovation, diversity in personnel, and a true model of efficiency, leading the industry into the modern era of consumer protection. We were able to accomplish facilitating specialized, high intensity training events for industry professionals, devise new opportunities for consumer education and outreach, and spearhead regional initiatives for seniors (developed the DC Triad) and the youth of the District.

Nominated by my professional peers and voted into the office of President by a majority vote by the Board of Directors, provided leadership and direction as President. Coordinated all strategic initiatives and directed the Executive Comittee for the activities on behalf of the Association regarding international consumer protection programs, inter-agency and interstate cooperatives, seminars, and the annual training symposiums. Instituted important new by-law initiatives to strengthen the business aspects of the association's efforts and imposed the first zero based budget programs to generate profits from annual conferences.

Performed the investigation, negotiation, and resolution of official consumer protection complaints. Developed investigative strategies with supervisory input, worked to resolve cases, and reported illegal business practices to the appropriate legal officials for possible action in state or federal courts. Directed, designed, developed & coordinated all Loss Prevention programs for the City Square properties under the Authority. Created & implemented physical security and loss prevention procedures, supervised officers and contractors assigned to facilities, and directed all safety initiatives including accident investigations, patrol functions, arrests and customer service programs; performed both criminal & civil investigations.Reduced criminal activity by 67%.Saved hundreds of thousands in liability costs through more efficient LP measures.
