About Brandon Freeman

With 21 years of service in the United States Air Force, I bring invaluable expertise in leadership, problem-solving, and collaborative teamwork. Throughout my journey, I've tackled complex challenges with precision and unwavering commitment. My career began in aircraft maintenance, where I honed my mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. A pivotal opportunity arose while stationed at Dover Air Force Base; a role as an electrical/environmental instructor.Transitioning into instruction, I delved into adult learning principles. Leveraging my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, I also took on the role of lead curriculum specialist, I managed 52 training courses, including the development of the Air Force's first 13 C-5M courses, personally authoring two.Expanding beyond instruction, I became a faculty development trainer. I was responsible training the section's personnel on basic instructional principles, ADDIE, Instructional System Design and technical writing. My journey as a curriculum specialist also allowed me an opportunity to collaborate with Instructional Designers from Lockheed-Martin. Together, we designed 150 eLearning courses to accompany the new C-5M training program. My experience with Lockheed-Martin ignited my desire to become an instructional designer myself. Returning briefly to maintenance, I refined leadership skills as lead technician before returning to maintenance training, this time in a leadership role. Supervising a 44-member instructor cadre, I guided the section through a 10-year record high, 30,000 academic hours, highlighted by development of an initial skills training program for aircraft crew chiefs. Nearing retirement, I prepared for a career shift into instructional design. I volunteered with Space Ape Games to learn graphic design, voiceovers, video, and audio editing. I furthered my expertise as an instructional design volunteer with the Keelworks Foundation and Rumie, exploring microlearning and designing courses. Now, poised for retirement, I'm ready to transition into instructional design permanently. My journey reflects not just a progression of roles, but a deepening commitment to continuous growth and learning. Each step has been instrumental in shaping my skills and preparing me for the next phase of my career. As I look ahead to retirement, I'm excited about the prospect of applying my diverse experiences and expertise in new and innovative ways, contributing to the field of instructional design and making a meaningful impact in education and training.
