Profile bio

About Brandon Kramer

My name is Brandon Kramer (or BK) and I’m a Product Manager at Edge & Node where I help develop The Graph - an open-source protocol/ecosystem designed to help users store, index, and query blockchain data. My main professional motivation is to help build social and technical systems that are more fair, equitable, and inclusive than what exist today. I’m interested in decentralized technologies, like The Graph, because I am hopeful they can alter existing economic injustices. I’m particularly motivated to disrupt today’s data monopolies so that (1) public data can be available under any circumstances and (2) that internet users can control their own digital rights and assets without compromising their privacy. Before joining Edge & Node, I obtained a Ph.D. in Sociology from Rutgers University in 2019 and held research positions at the University of Virginia, Rutgers University, Barnard College, and the University of Iowa. In my work, I incorporated aspects of sociology, science & technology studies, and data science to study innovation and ethics in science, tech, and health. As my publications and projects pages detail, my main focus during my academic career was studying the conceptualization of sex/gender, race/ethnicity, and diversity in biomedical research. As a postdoc at UVA, I also worked on a team that studied the scope and impact of open-source software. I have experience with interviewing, user testing, surveys, and experimental design; data visualization; regression modeling and predictive analytics; computational text analysis; social network analysis; geospatial methods; supervised and unsupervised machine learning; relational database management; collecting, cleaning, and merging large administrative, online social media, and text data. I am proficient with Notion, R, Python, SQL, SPSS, Stata, bash, Git, GitHub, Gephi, PostgreSQL, Qualtrics, NVIVO, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LaTeX, and high-performance computing environments. I also have strong public speaking, writing, collaboration, multitasking, and project management skills.

Listed skills include Research, Spss, English, Science, and 11 others.
