Brian M. Davis focuses his practice on client counseling relating to trademarks, including worldwide trademark clearance and the prosecution of U.S. and foreign trademark applications. He also has experience with copyright and other intellectual property issues, such as domain name disputes (including the UDRP), licensing programs and other intellectual property-related agreements. Brian has provided strategic trademark, copyright and domain name advice for a wide variety of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to small start up entities. During his career, Brian has represented the owners of some of the world’s best known brands in the footwear, banking, consumer electronics, home improvement, retail clothing and other industries. Prior to joining VLP, Brian was a partner with the Charlotte office of Alston & Bird where he was a member of the Trademark & Copyright Group from 1999-2010. Brian served as that group’s acting Practice Group leader in 2008, and was the Practice Group Leader in the Charlotte office of Alston & Bird from 2009-10. Brian is also a member of VLP's Executive Committee and is the former Co-Chair of VLP's IP Group.Brian is previously served as the Co-Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Trademark and Copyright Committee of the Intellectual Property Law Section and as Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Owners (IPO) Trademark Office Practice Committee. He is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) since 2004 and has served on various INTA committees. He has been voted to The Best Lawyers in America every year since 2009 and has been named Charlotte Lawyer of the Year for Trademarks (2014, 2017, 2019 and 2024) and for Copyrights (2013, 2021 and 2024). Brian received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1996 where he graduated in the top 5% of his class, was the John J.
